Subnautica 2 Early Access Hotfix 3 Adds DLSS 4.5 and Creature Tuning

Unknown Worlds published Early Access Hotfix 3 on June 1, 2026. This is the first post-Hotfix 2 patch to land in Steam appnews, and it is worth treating as a real SEO update: DLSS 4.5, Frame Generation fixes, cheaper Interior Walls, creature-balance changes, multiplayer rejoin fixes, and several state / crash cleanup items all change pages players are already searching.

What changed in Hotfix 3

Hotfix 3 is mainly a stability, graphics, creature-balance, and co-op-state pass. The official note says DLSS-related crashes were fixed, DLSS settings should save correctly, Frame Generation availability was corrected for affected builds, and DLSS was upgraded to version 4.5.

Base builders also get a concrete economy change: Interior Wall costs are now one quarter of their previous price. Use the reduced cost when planning room divisions and larger habitats.

Creature tuning in Hotfix 3

Hammerheads no longer attack unpiloted Tadpoles, but the note still says Hammerheads can take an interest in Tadpoles. That means older "safe creature" or "vehicle harassment" wording should be rewritten carefully: the important player answer is now vehicle-state behavior, not a simple harmless / hostile label.

Nibblers were adjusted in several directions at once: lower perception range, longer circling before attack, slower overall movement, higher sensitivity to the Multitool, and higher damage. Marrowbreaches now deal more damage but attack less frequently.

Co-op and state fixes

  • Rare crashes when starting games were fixed.
  • Clients reverting to a previous position when rejoining multiplayer sessions were fixed.
  • Strike Armor modification stacking additively was fixed because it could create a game-breaking state.
  • Goggles remaining visible in first-person view after exiting the Tadpole Haul Chassis as a passenger were fixed.

Mark the exact symptoms named above as fixed in Hotfix 3. For other save-load, passenger, armor, vehicle, or desync reports, record the platform, host/client role, build, and reproduction steps.
