Apex tracker
Collector Leviathan
An apex-threat tracker for one of Subnautica 2's headline leviathan encounters. Treat route, aggro, vehicle, and co-op behavior as patch-sensitive after the May 20 community letter flagged creature mitigation as an active tuning area.
Status as of May 20, 2026: Official media confirms Collector Leviathan as a Subnautica 2 leviathan subject. Location, pursuit boundaries, combat interaction, threat radius, scan rewards, and audio cue distance are current-build check items until a run or patch note pins them down.

Evasion tactics
- Do not write this as a combat guide yet. Unknown Worlds' current public direction is still exploration and mitigation over traditional weapon combat, but exact killability, health, damage, and aggro behavior need in-game confirmation.
- Use vehicles as escape planning, not a guarantee. The Tadpole Submersible is the current vehicle route to track, but speed, collision, and creature interaction details should be rechecked after balance patches.
- Plan co-op roles conservatively. Assign one navigator and one pickup route before entering a leviathan area. Do not claim reliable distraction, aggro splitting, or host-side behavior until it repeats in the current build.
- Treat flares and Survival Tool behavior as moving facts. Unknown Worlds specifically named those mitigation tools in the May 20 community letter, so any route advice using them should be rechecked after each creature patch.
- Respect currents and exits. Ocean currents and poor route discipline can still push a group into danger. Keep an exit heading and a vehicle pickup point before dropping into Sparse Plains-style routes.
Open questions
- First reliable audio cue range so you can plan dives without visual contact.
- Exact aggro decay timer after breaking line of sight.
- Whether 4-player co-op aggro splits across divers or focuses one target.
- Whether the Collector ever appears in Graveyard, Thermal Spires, or Plateaus, or whether Sparse Plains is its bounded zone.
- Screenshots from a real scan, replacing the current original art panel.
